Stranger than Paradise 13th Birthday - Transylvania, Secondhand Street Band, and DJ's Sacha Dieu and Ms Manray

  • Styx Bar 5 Ashley Road London N17 9LJ (map)

We are teaming up with Stranger than Paradise to celebrate their 13th Birthday with a night of balkan gypsy and brass mayhem at the phenomenal Styx.

All the way from the Bucovina region,  the band centres around the
dual talents of Konstantin Zgomot and Vlad Damien, whose deep roots in
Transylvania are shrouded in mystery. Alongside an array of awesome
musicians, their set combines Roma gypsy and balkan flavours with red
hot beats and samples, provided by ultra producer Konstantin. The
result is an incredibly heavy groove which is brought to life by the
deep and distinctive vocals of guitarist Vlad, with brass section in
full attendance.

The live show has the band's motto ‘Damn Fun’ at its heart, featuring
live visuals to take you deep into the realm of Transylvania.

This is the only London show on their UK tour, which sees them
headline Maui Waui Festival, alongside appearances at Boomtown Fair
(Oldtown Main Stage) and Bestival.

Led by the effervescent Adam Lessnau, the Secondhand Street Band have
traveled the world, combining the traditional sound of New Orleans
Jazz and Funk with contemporary elements and popular reimaginings. As
a crew of misfit street performers from all over the USA and beyond,
the SHSB has crafted an energetic and interactive live show which
brings the party wherever they go. As well as their full stage show,
expect them to use their experience as street performers in the Styx
garden to bring the New Orleans party vibe.
