Tenderlonious

Ed 'Tenderlonious' Cawthorne celebrates the launch of his new album 'You Know I Care' on his label '22a', with a full-band live show.

“Mind blowing live show! I love this guy and all his ideas” GILLES PETERSON

22a label boss, flautist, saxophonist, producer and DJ, Ed ‘Tenderlonious’ Cawthorne is regarded as one of the leading figures in the London jazz and underground music scene. Running a record label is enough work alone, but Tenderlonious has amassed an armoury of releases that transcend your average UK artist.

His debut ‘Tenderlonious’ live album ‘The Shakedown” is considered to be one of the classic albums of the modern jazz era, gaining rave reviews and over 5 million streams worldwide. He has also proven himself to be one of the most versatile musicians in the world, collaborating with Polish jazz band EABS, Italian musician and producer Lorenzo Morresi on their 2022 album “Cosmica Italiana” and for his famous collaboration with the Pakistani band Jaubi that has generated 2 albums and lead to rave reviews from the likes of The Guardian, Pitchfork, and Downbeat. Headline shows at London’s Union Chapel and festivals all over the world followed.

In 2023 he returns with a new live album 'You Know I Care' and live show, featuring some of his favourite musicians and collaborators.

“Tenderlonious is one of the hardest working men in music, bridging jazz, house and beats with restless ease.” VINYL FACTORY

“UK jazz renaissance’s leading light” MOJO

“Tenderlonious heads up 22a, a label so on-point we could pretty much fill this column entirely with his music and artists from the 22a roster” CLASH

Mikoudi

After meeting in Leeds during their studies, the Mikoudi family has expanded - starting off as just a small instrumental based band, to now having up to 9 people on stage at one time.

The band combines pop melodies with jazz harmony, electronic ambient synth lines and danceable rhythms.

2022 was the year of Mikoudi's first gig, supporting Islandman at Headrow House. They have since gone on to support huge names such as Omar and Myele Manzanza, as well as performing in well known venues such as The Brudenell Social Club and Hyde Park Book Club in Leeds, The Victoria Dalston in London, and Band on the Wall in Manchester.

2023 has been a big year for Mikoudi already, having played Wilderness Festival and We Out Here Festival in August, and Leeds + Manchester Jazz Festivals back in May.

This Autumn will see new music released from Mikoudi as they work on the patiently awaited EP to be released. This will come following their Headline Single release show at Hyde Park Book Club on the 25th October.

The band have had a lot of backing from BBC Music Introducing, West Yorkshire, who also selected their most recent gig supporting Omar Lyefook as the 'Hottest Ticket' in Leeds.

Archie Williamson on drums, David Bullock on bass guitar, Thomas McEwan on guitar, David Haynes on synthesizer, India Button on lead vocals, Eunhwa Jo/Joseph Frost on keys, Katie Prothero on backing vocals and Joe Vander-Muelhen on saxophone all make up the sound of Mikoudi.
