BLIND ORCHESTRA

Blind Orchestra is an international musical improvisation project, which stands out for its unique concept: The musicians play and sing blindfolded while a conductor takes charge of the orchestration.

With a touch of a stick the conductor can signal the musicians when to play, when to stop and when to take the lead.

In a Blind Orchestra session, the musicians don't know when they will play, while the conductor doesn't know what they will play - this dialogue takes the crowd to a musical journey into the unknown, with spectacular results.

Each concert is a gathering of eight international and local musicians and with this simple yet effective concept, the music breaks through the limitations of any improvised session.

HATTIE WHITEHEAD

Inspired by the earlier sounds of folk artists such as James Taylor, Nick Drake, John Martyn and Joni Mitchell, London based artist Hattie Whitehead takes influence from both old and new music, drawing upon the eclectic range of musical styles she has been surrounded by throughout life. Distinguished by the purity of her vocal tones and crystal clear delivery, her experience of playing, singing and listening to folk, jazz, soul, alternative and many more genres has led Hattie to develop a style that is melodic, soulful, heartfelt and often unpredictable. The release of her debut EP 'Home' prompted radio play from stations including BBC Radio London and Amazing Radio, and a sell-out launch gig at St Pancras Old Church in London.

'Hattie's got the sort of talent that means in a couple of years' time we'll all be boasting about being here tonight' - For Folk's Sake
