  • Dalston Eastern Curve Garden 13 Dalston Lane London, England, E8 3DF United Kingdom (map)

The Nigerian songwriter and producer creates an uplifting, powerful and soulful sound.

CALEB KUNLE

Caleb Kunle combines the power of storytelling rooted in the folk traditions of Ireland & Nigeria with personal stories and a huge modern and soulful sound.

His musical journey began alongside his 2 brothers, acting as self taught producers, musicians, songwriters, vocalists & rappers - an escape from the struggle to find their place within the rural Irish community they moved to from Lagos, Nigeria, during childhood. Caleb then moved away, busking & honing his craft in New York. After briefly ending up homeless he made the jump to London.

Within his first year in the city, he won the NME Emerging Artist Of The Year and Afropunk London’s Battle Of The Bands, becoming resident artist at The Roundhouse while releasing his debut project. His 2022 single ‘All In Your Head’ saw the world start to take notice, with Nialler9 naming ‘All In Your Head’ #7 best song of the year & the Irish Examiner nominating him as a ‘one to watch’, Sync placements for the track at The Dublin International Film Festival and Irish TV awards, which lead to acknowledgement from the likes of Tom Ravencroft & Nabihah Iqbal (BBC R6), Jamz Supanova (BBC R1Xtra) & Kevin Cole (KEXP).

During 2022, Caleb performed at Secret Garden Party, Eurosonic, Ireland Music week, Iceland Airwaves, Body & Soul & various European Jazz festivals, recorded a KEXP session for the legendary Kevin Cole, performed at over 50 Sofar Sounds across the UK & supported the likes of Sir Was, Michael Sebastien and more.

After becoming a father in 2023 and taking time to hone his production & songwriting work, he returned in 2024 with the statement single ‘POWER’, picking up where he left off with a powerful social message as the first in a series of singles. They follow his triumph as runner up in the Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition (coming 2nd out of over 7,000 applicants), 4 shows at Glastonbury, 2 shows at The Great Escape & headlining the Irish President’s summer party.

SUPPORT ACT - ROB DE BOER

Irish-Dutch multi-instrumentalist, producer and visual artist Rob de Boer explores identity, notions of manhood and relationships across his terracotta-hued, soul-leaning debut album ‘Man to You’. Releasing on Friday 16th May via Bridge the Gap, the record comes after a string of well received singles, which have drawn widespread support from the likes of Wonderland, RTE 2xm, NTS Radio and Jazz FM.

Inspired by the work of songwriting legends including Bill Withers, and vital present-day voices in the alternative soul-jazz crossover space, including Oscar Jerome, Puma Blue and Michael Kiwanuka, ‘Man to You’ is centred around Rob’s own stories, relationships - both romantic and platonic - and experiences around identity and manhood. The record sees him move away from the electronic embellishments of earlier releases, putting forward a sound built upon intimacy, organic instrumentation, and above all else, soul.

He shares:“When I write songs, things come out of me that I might not otherwise get a chance to articulate. These songs allowed me to process my own experiences relating to my sexuality and identity, and present an opportunity to share my experience and vulnerability with others.”
