IYAMAH

Growing up on the sounds of African drumming and reggae music in the seaside town of Brighton (UK), IYAMAH began to use songwriting at the piano as a way of diary-like expression at age twelve. By sixteen, immersed in the festival culture and vibrancy from dub and DnB nights, she started writing toplines for DnB tracks with Brighton-based label Shogun Audio. She went on to feature on My Nu Leng’s “Senses”, touring the summer festivals including Glastonbury and SW4. More recently, she has collaborated with Pola & Bryson on “Too Shy” and with DJ Zinc, receiving huge amounts of support including being featured as Clara Amfo’s Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1.

IYAMAH moved to London aged nineteen to study at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance, winning scholarship award for best vocals. She has since been handpicked to tour with the likes of Masego and Mahalia, performed at Cross The Tracks festival, recorded live sessions for Metropolis Songs, Redbull and Majestic Casual, and sold-out multiple headline shows including The Jazz Café and OMEARA. She has accumulated over 20 million streams and received continuous support from Yazmin Evans and DJ Ace (BBC 1Xtra) and The Joe Budden Podcast.

Following her own path as a solo artist, IYAMAH is focused on developing a distinct soulful R&B sound, which she describes as Rootsy Soul, as she continues to remain connected to her musical beginnings, favourite genres, and lyrical focus on identity, self-worth, and female empowerment.
