Kaidi Akinnibi + China Bowls

  • Dalston Eastern Curve Garden 13 Dalston Lane London, E8 3DF United Kingdom (map)

The virtuoso saxophonist has collaborated with the likes of Tom Misch. Discover his own unique compositions as he performs a full band show, outdoors at the beautiful Curve Garden.

A young artist hailing from London England, Kaidi’s sound is influenced by the many sounds new and old to come out of its vibrant music scene. Growing up in South London and learning from the Kinetika Bloco and Jazz Warriors families, Kaidi’s outlook on music has always been multi faceted, which can be seen in the various styles of the artists he writes with - the likes of Tom Misch, Black Midi, Blue Lab Beats, Celeste, Wizkid and DoomCannon amongst them.

His own music, more vocal orientated, takes from Shoegaze rock and electronic production sounds amongst his other influences in Jazz and Classical music to create soundscapes reminiscent of a movie soundtrack.

China Bowls

Alternative soul singer/ songwriter China Bowls combines poetic and insightful lyricism with percussive guitar tones and soaring melodies to conjure a sound rich in feeling.

Storytelling is at the heart of China's music and her warm conversational vocal guides the listener through intricate narratives exploring subjects including insomnia, grief and horrible bosses. She delivers both extensive solo sets and dynamic full band performances. Mesmerising vocals, cheekily infectious lyrics and elegantly arranged compositions, make her a luminous performer, captivating the audience with her insightful and poignant melodies.

China Bowls' sound is a fusion of neo soul, blues and hip hop influences. She is a regular on the Bristol and London live scenes and has also played across the country, from Bristol's Colston Hall to Glastonbury, Boomtown and Bestival. She’s received Wordplay Magazine’s Amplify Artist of the month, as well as rave reviews from Drunken Werewolf and Bristol Live Magazine’s Mustafa Mirreh.
